Description :

Nursing assistants provide patients with bedside care and perform the duties planned by the nursing and medical staff. These workers carry out a variety of indispensable tasks, but they always work under the supervision of the nursing and medical staff of their institutions. For example, they prepare and administer medications, and change patients’ dressings. They also take patients’ blood pressure and temperature. They may also explain the different procedures involved in the operation that a patient is about to undergo. Nursing assistants work in hospitals, nursing homes, extended-care facilities, acute-care or chronic-care facilities, and local community service centres (CLSCs). http://cfpsante.ca/

Préalables :

Persons holding a Secondary School Diploma (SSD) or its recognized equivalent are not subject to any additional admission requirements. OR Persons who are at least 16 years of age on September 30 of the school year in which their training is to begin must meet the following additional requirement: they must have earned Secondary V credits in language of instruction and Secondary IV credits in second language and mathematics, or have been granted recognition of equivalent learning. OR Persons who are at least 18 years of age must have the following functional prerequisites: they must pass a general development test (GDT) and have the specific prerequisites for the desired program (as stipulated in Schedule I of the Vocational Education Directives 2003-2004), as well as Secondary V credits in language of instruction, or have been granted recognition of equivalent learning. OR Persons having earned Secondary III credits in language of instruction, second language and mathematics in the programs of study established by the Minister must continue their general education courses concurrently with their vocational training in order to obtain the credits they are missing in the following areas: Secondary V credits in language of instruction and Secondary IV credits in second language and mathematics, in the programs of study established by the Minister.
